How to use eMule
You are interested in understanding how to use eMule on your computer in the best possible way? Then make yourself comfortable and concentrate on reading the information on what to do that you find below.
I will explain how download and install the program, like open the ports in the router to be able to download files at the fastest possible speed, such as update servers of the eD2K network to avoid running into spy servers, how to connect to the Kad network and how search and download files with multiple sources under its belt. Download and installation
To use eMule, you need to first worry about download and install the program on your PC, in case you haven't already done so.
Go, therefore, to the program's website and click on the item Download placed under the heading Install vx.xxx at the top of the page, corresponding to the section Official version.
Once the download is complete, open the file eMulex.xxx-Installer.exe just got it and, in the window that is shown to you on the screen, click on the button first Yes and then on the buttons OK e NEXT. Then click on the button Accept and complete the setup by first pressing the button NEXT (twice in a row) and then on those Install, NEXT e end.
Now start eMule using the collegamento that was added to the desktop or by invoking it from the Start menu. Once this is done, the initial configuration procedure of the program.
During that process, you need to select the nickname to be used on networks exploited by the software to share files online (do not leave the default one), set the TCP and UDP port used by the program to communicate online (leave the default ones active if you don't know where to put your hands) and choose whether to activate theprotocol obfuscation (a useful function to bypass the P2P traffic limits provided by some Internet providers).
You can also leave the rest of the settings at their default values. If you then see a warning about the firewall Windows, click on the button Allow access, to authorize eMule to access the Internet.
Opening the router ports
After completing the initial configuration procedure of the program, in order to use eMule you have to worry about being able to download and upload files at maximum speed: a result that you can get by going to open the ports in the router intervening on the configuration panel of the latter.
To find out how, follow these guidelines. I warn you, however, that I will not be able to be extremely precise on what to do, as the exact menus to reach and the exact options to click vary from device to device.
- Open the browser you usually use to surf the Net from your PC (eg. Chrome) and connect to the router control panel by typing 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of the program and pressing the key Submit on the keyboard. If neither address works, consult the manual of the device or try to cope with it by reading my guide on how to find the IP address of the router;
- If you are asked to enter authentication data to access the router configuration panel, try the combination admin / admin or that one admin / password. If neither of them works, consult the device manual or read my tutorial on how to see the modem password;
- Once logged in, go to the section called Port forwarding, port Forwarding or Virtual Server of the modem configuration panel and create a new rule, an new virtual server or a new LAN connection;
- Fill out the form that is proposed to you by setting as public door e local port the port number TCP by eMule (eg. 61564), then repeat the operation for the door as well UDP (Eg. 12387). How Destination IP o Server IP address type the local IP address of the computer on which you intend to use eMule (if you don't know what the local IP address of your PC is, read my tutorial on how to view IP address).
If you don't know which ports are used by eMule, go to the program window, click on the button options located at the top, select the item Connection from the new screen displayed and write down the numbers you find next to the items TCP e UDP.

Server list update
Another operation you need to do before you can start using eMule is to update the server list used by the program to establish the connection to the eD2K network: in this way, you will avoid the spy servers and will be able to download at the maximum speed possible.
To carry out the operation in question, click on the button Server & Hosting located at the top of the eMule window, right click on an "empty" point in the current list, select the item Delete all servers from the context menu and confirm.
Afterward, paste into the field Update server.met from URL located in the right sidebar at the address http://edk.peerates.net/servers.met or the http://upd.emule-security.org/server.met and click on the button Update.
Once this is done, double-click on its name of one of the listed servers to establish the connection with it. For more information, I refer you to reading my guide dedicated to how to add eMule servers.
Connection to the Kad network
To establish the connection to the Kad network (the other network used by eMule), on the other hand, waits before reaching a large number of sources to contact on the eD2K network, then click on the button Kad located at the top of the program window, check the option From known clients and click sul pulsating Bootstrap. Within minutes, the arrow related to the Kad network (bottom right) should be colored with green.
Later, you can use the network in question as the only source of search for downloads or in conjunction with the eD2k servers. For future use of eMule, to connect to the network just click directly on the button Connect and not on that to bootstrap, as seen together earlier.

Search and download files
Finally here we are, you can start using eMule to search and download your favorite files. So, click on the button Search located at the top of the program window, choose from the drop-down menu Research method the network on which you want to search, type the name of the movie, song or program you want to find in the text field placed under the heading Your name and press the button Submit of your PC keyboard.
If you want, you can also limit your search to only a certain type of file (eg. Audio, Video, CD image, etc.) by setting the type of your interest in advance from the drop-down menu Type.
Once you have the search results (it takes a few seconds, you have to wait for the loading bar at the bottom to be completed), click on the item Availability to make the files that have a greater number of sources appear in the first places (and therefore can be downloaded faster) and double-click the name of the file you want to download, to start the download.
All files queued for download on eMule are automatically shared by you with other users of the program. The principle by which eMule works is in fact the one that the more you share the more you download, therefore, at first you will have a little trouble downloading quickly but after you have shared many files you will go like a train!

How to use eMule AdunanzA
If you use a fiber optic connection, you can contact eMule Gathering, a special version of the program designed specifically for this type of networks. Its operation reproduces exactly that of the "classic" eMule, the only difference is that, instead of the Kad network, the Kadu network.
To download it, go to the official website of the project, click on the button eMule Gathering and, subsequently, on the link eMule_AdunanzA_x-xx_Installer.exe.
When the download is complete, start the file eMule_AdunanzA_x-xx_Installer.exe obtained and follow the installation and initial configuration procedure by following the same steps indicated in the chapter focused on eMule. The same applies to use, except for the fact that by updating the server list, as I explained to you in the step dedicated to the practice in question, the address you will need to use will be http://update.adunanza.net/ servers.met.
How to use eMule for Mac
Stai using a Mac? In this case, I'm sorry to tell you, but eMule is not available, it is in fact a software for Windows operating systems only. However, there is a specific version of the program for Apple-branded computers (and for Linux), called aMule, with similar operation to that of eMule. It is also a free and open source solution.
To download it on your Mac, go to the official project forum and click on the link Sierra (10.12) located under the heading macOS / OS X. On the page that opens, select the link for aMule (and not ad aMule GUI which, instead, allows you to manage the program remotely), click on the button Download located at the top right and, on the page of dropbox that opens, press on the item Direct download.
When the download is complete, extract theZIP archive ottenuto e trascina l 'program icon content inside it in the folder Applications of macOS. Afterwards, right click on it, select the item apri click on the menu and click on the button apri in the window that appears on the screen, so as to start the program, however, going around the limitations imposed by Apple on applications from non-certified developers (an operation that must be performed only at the first start).
When starting aMule for the first time, click on the button Yes, OK to access its main window, please consent to server list download and run all various operations necessary in order to start using the program. Provide, therefore, for open the ports in the router, to update servers and configure the Kad network. The operations to be performed are practically the same as I described in the chapter dedicated to the "real" eMule. To search and download files, instead, select the button Research located at the top of the application window, type the name of the file you want to download in the field Your name and press the button Submit on the computer keyboard. If you want to refine the search results, check the box beforehand Advanced parameters and use the drop-down menus and fields that are shown to you to define file type, size and so on.
Once the search results are displayed, in the area below the item Results, double-click on the file you are interested in, to start the download (which you can then monitor by clicking on the tab Download by aMule).
And if you are connected to the Internet via optical fiber, you can contact aMule Gathering, the version of aMule optimized for this type of connections, as in the case of eMule AdunanzA which I told you about in the previous step. To download it, go to the website of the project, click on the button aMule Meeting and click on the link here che trovi sotto the dicitura Mac.
Once the download is complete,installation and configuration as I indicated in the previous lines for what concerns the "classic" version of aMule: the steps to be taken are exactly the same, as well as the operation.
How to use eMule for Android
A smartphone or tablet is available Android, I am happy to inform you that you can use eMule, or rather the apps that resume their operation (as, I repeat, eMule "real" is only available for Windows), even on the move. There are several applications of this type but, personally, I suggest you rely on Mule for Android. It is free and its interface is fully translated into the city.
To download and install it on your device, visit the relevant section of the Play Store and press the button Install. Then, tap on the button apri appeared on the screen, in order to start the app, or select his icon which was added to the drawer (the Android screen where you find the icons of all installed applications grouped).
Once the main screen of the app is displayed, tap the buttons Following, end e OK. Next, grant Mule for Android i permits needed to access the media and files on your device and double-tap one of the server in the displayed list to connect to it.
Then press the button with the three lines horizontally located at the top right, select the item Search from the menu that opens, type the name of the file you want to download in the dedicated field and tap the button with the magnifying glass present on the virtual keyboard. If you can't find what interests you in the search results, use i filters places on top to help you.
Once you have located the file you want to download, press on it, tap the button OK and wait for the download to finish. To keep track of the progress of the procedure, press the button with the three lines horizontally che si trova in alto a destra e seleciona la voce Transfers give the menu check if you press.
If this should come in handy, I finally point out that you can also put your hand to the app settings by selecting the item Settings always attached to the visible menu after pressing the button with le three lines horizontally which is located at the top right.
