Know if a number is Wind from the Wind network
You have several options to find out how to know if a number is Wind. The first one I recommend - as well as the simplest one to exploit - involves using the service Wind Identity, which allows the identification of telephone numbers through Wind mobile phones.
Then open the dialer of your smartphone (the dialing screen, which is usually identified by a handset icon located on the home screen), calls up the numeric keypad (if necessary), dial the number you want to identify, prefixing it with the prefix 456, and initiate the call (by pressing the appropriate key, which is usually represented by a green handset).
For example, if the number you want to identify is 123456789, you need to make a call to the number 456123456789 and wait a few seconds online: an automatic service will reply and tell you whether the number entered belongs to the Wind network or not. The service is free and can be used from any smartphone or mobile phone.
It should be noted that, if you are a Wind customer, you will only be told if the number entered belongs to the operator's network or not. If the number you entered does not belong to the Wind network, in fact, you will not be told which operator it belongs to.
Know if a number is Wind from other operators
Would you like to know if a number is Wind but, currently, you don't have a Wind line at your disposal? No problem: some operators, such as TIM e Iliad, allow you to take advantage of the service 456 which I told you about in the previous chapter of the tutorial by telling you which manager the entered number belongs to.
The procedure you must follow is the same as I indicated a little while ago: open the dialer of your smartphone (the dialing screen), call up the numeric keypad (if necessary) and dial the number you want to identify, prefixing it with the prefix 456. If, for example, you want to find out if the number 123456789 belongs to a Wind line, type 456123456789.
Within a few seconds, a recorded voice will answer you and tell you the operator to whom the number entered belongs. If, for example, the number entered belongs to the Wind network, you will hear a message such as "_The number [number you entered] belongs to the Wind operator_".
Depending on the operator you are using, the service can be free or it can cost the same as a normal national call.
Know if a number is Wind from a landline
If you do not have a mobile phone at hand (for example because it is being charged), you can find out if a number is Wind even using the landline phone at home. In this case, you must make a call to the number to be identified by prefixing it with two prefixes: 1088 (Or 1055) is 456.
For example, if the number you want to identify is 123456789, you need to make a call to the number 1088456123456789 (Or 1055456123456789) and an automatic service will reply telling you if the requested number belongs to the Wind network or not. The service works only if you have a Wind / Infostrada subscription at home or if you specifically request its activation.
Other useful solutions
In conclusion, I would like to point out some alternative solutions that could help you find out if a number is Wind or not. Also - which I think is equally important - I would like to warn you of some solutions that instead promise to be useful but which in reality are very little (if they are not actually harmful!).
As for the solutions that could be useful to you, I would like to recommend you to read my tutorials dedicated to alternative services to Wind Identity offered by other operators. If you have the opportunity to use a TIM, Vodafone or Tre line, you can in fact take advantage of the services offered by these operators to find out if a number belongs to their network or not (and therefore excludes its belonging to the Wind network).
The services I refer to are detailed in my tutorials on how to know if a number is TIM, how to know if a number is Vodafone and how to know if a number is Three and, in general, these are telephone services similar to the 456 proposed by Wind. In addition, some operators offer the possibility of verifying the network to which a number belongs using convenient online forms: you type the number to be verified in a specific text field, press a button and you will immediately get the response.
And the superfluous solutions from which I advise you to stay away, what are they? I'll tell you right away: the many applications that, on the Android Play Store as well as on the iOS App Store, promise to know which operator a phone number belongs to. Solutions of this kind often do not work or are reduced to simple scripts that automate the insertion of the prefix 456 to the numbers to call, in order to use services such as Wind Identity. Considering that applications of this kind are often full of advertising banners and unnecessarily weigh on battery and memory, I strongly advise against installing them. Much better to lose a few more seconds and take advantage of "manually" services such as Wind Identity.
On the other hand, applications such as TrueCaller (to identify mobile numbers and block nuisance numbers) e Whooming (to find out the numbers disguised with the anonymous), which I told you about in specific tutorials such as those on how to search for a phone number and how to find out a private number.
