Open the eMule ports on the router
The first step you need to take for have a high ID in eMule is to open the ports that the program uses to communicate with foreign countries inside your router.
To proceed, first find out which ports are used by your eMule to receive incoming connections and share files with other users: then start the program, click on the button options located at the top and select the item Connection from the left sidebar of the window that opened on the desktop. The values you have to write down are those shown in the fields TCP e UDP.
If the values in question are equal to 4662 e 4672, modify them with higher values (eg. 28823 e 5643) to bypass any P2P traffic restrictions applied to them by the Internet provider.
Now start the browser you usually use to surf the Internet (eg. Chrome o Firefox) and connected to the router address, which should be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. If neither address works, open the Command Prompt by searching for it in the Windows Start menu (by pressing the flag icon located in the lower left corner of the screen) and giving the command ipconfig.
The router's IP address is the one you find next to the item Default gateway in the output returned by the command. If any steps are not clear to you, you can take a look at my specific tutorial on how to enter the router.
Once you enter the router configuration panel, you will be asked to enter a username and password combination. Now, if you haven't changed the default combination, you should be able to log in by typing admin / admin or admin / password. Otherwise try to consult the manual of the device or to completely reset the router and try again with the default combinations that I suggested previously (you can find detailed information on how to reset a router in my tutorial on how to configure a router).
Now, since the router configuration panels vary from brand to brand, I will give you some general indications, which in any case should be sufficient to achieve the purpose.
First, locate the section of the configuration panel dedicated toport forwarding, port mapping or to virtual server, access it and start creating one new rule or new virtual server by clicking on the appropriate item. You will be offered a form to fill out: fill it out following the instructions you find below.
- Initial door or Interior door - eMule's TCP or UDP port number.
- Final door or External door - the number of the eMule TCP or UDP port (it must be the same value entered in the field relating to the initial or internal port).
- Protocol or Port Type - the type of port being configured, then TCP or UDP.
- Server IP address or destination IP - the local IP address of the computer on which eMule is to be used. You can find this address by reading my tutorial on finding out your computer's IP address.
- Description or Name - any name to be assigned to the rule being created (eg "eMule TCP" or "eMule UDP").
Once you have filled out the form, click on the button Save / Apply to save the newly created rule and repeat the procedure to open the other port used by eMule as well.
Then, to check that everything went well, close eMule completely, reopen it, go to the menu Options> Connection and click on the button Head doors to check if the ports have been opened inside the router. If the test (which will automatically open in your default browser) gives a positive result, you can go to the next chapter of the tutorial, otherwise try to activate theUPnP in the program and on the router. In case you have never heard of it, UPnP is a network protocol that allows different devices to connect to each other creating a peer-to-peer network.
To enable this technology in eMule, start the program and click on the button options located at the top right to access the settings panel. In the window that opens, select the item Connection from the left menu, put the check mark next to the item Use UPnP to set ports and click on OK per salvare i Cambiomenti.
Now you need to configure the use of UPnP on your router as well. To do this, open your favorite web browser, connect to the device management panel (as I explained to you before), go to the section Access Management / Access Management (section names vary from router to router), click on the option UPnP, metti il segno di spunta accanto alla voce Enable / Enable and click on the button Save per salvare i Cambiomenti.
If, through my "generic" indications, you cannot find the options relating to UPnP or to opening the ports, try to consult the specific tutorials I have dedicated to the various router models (in this way, you will get ad hoc instructions for your device).

Another obstacle inhave a high ID with eMule it may be the windows firewall. To make sure that the latter is configured correctly, click on the button Home (the flag icon located in the lower left corner of the screen), search "firewall" in the menu that opens and select the item Allow apps through Windows Firewall from the search results.
Nella finestra che si apre, fai clic sul pulsado Change settings, search for eMule in the list of programs on your PC and, if not already there, put the check mark next to its name and next to the options private e Public related to it.
Now you should already have a high ID, but before starting to download files with eMule, I suggest you update the list of eD2K servers used by the software and correctly configure the Kad network, the other peer-to-peer network used by eMule . Below you will find all the directions to follow.
Update the eMule servers
As just mentioned, another fundamental step to get a high ID in eMule is to use dei server eD2K updated, functional and safe (because there are also spy, designed solely to track user activities). To update the server list of your eMule, you must first delete the one you are currently using.
Then go to the card Server & Hosting of the program (top center), right click in an "empty" point of the server list currently set, select the item Delete all servers from the menu that pops up and answer Yes to the notice that appears on the desktop.
After this step, paste one of the following addresses into the field Update server.met from address that you find in the right sidebar and presses the button Update to download a new server list to your eMule.
- http://update.adunanza.net/servers.met (solo per eMule AdunanzA)
Mission accomplished! Now you can connect to eMule's eD2K network being sure not to run into malfunctioning servers or, even worse, spy. In case some steps are not clear to you, you can consult my specific guide on how to download the server list in eMule.
Connect to the eMule Kad network
As you surely know, in addition to the eD2K network, eMule also uses the network Kad, which is considered more secure and potentially long-lived than eD2K as it is not based on the use of servers and connects users directly to each other.
To connect to the eMule Kad network, you can act in two different ways: download a file (nodes.dat) ready to use with the "contacts" to establish the connection to the network or start a download on the eD2K network and use the "nodes" contacts through it to access the Kad.
In the first case, select the tab Kad of eMule (top), put the check mark next to the item Load nodes.dat from the URL present in the right sidebar and type one of the following addresses in the text field below.
- http://www.emule-mods.com/download/nodes.dat (dal forum Emule Mods)
Now, click on the button BootStrap, wait a few minutes and the Kad network indicator (the arrow in the lower right corner of the program window) should change from yellow to green.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to connect to the Kad network via known nodes on the eD2K network, proceed in this other way: connect to a server present in the eMule card of the same name, starts the download of a file and waits for a good position in the download queue.
Then go to the card Kad, put the check mark next to the item From known clients and click on the button Bootstrap. Again, within a few minutes, the Kad network indicator should change from yellow to green.
In case of problems or further doubts regarding the functioning of the Kad network, consult my tutorial on how to connect to the Kad network: there you will find all the information you need.
