How to sign up for WeChat
The first step you need to take is to download WeChat on your smartphone. Then access the store of your phone (eg Google Play on Android, App Store on iPhone and Windows Phone Store on Windows Phone), search WeChat within the latter and proceed with the download of the application. It's all free.
Once installation is complete, start WeChat and create your account on the service by pressing the button Register with phone number you see at the bottom right. Then fill out the form that is proposed to you and enter all the requested information: username (i.e. your email address), country of residence, mobile number and password to be used to access the platform.
At this point, pigia sul pulsating Register with phone number, Reply OK at the notice that appears on the screen and, if necessary, enter the verification code that is sent to you via SMS to validate your identity. Mission accomplished! You are effectively a WeChat user.
How to add contacts in WeChat
To discover how WeChat works you have to add people to the contact list of the app. How? The easiest way to do this is to scan your phone's address book and let the service automatically detect which users are on the platform and then add them to your contacts (as do WhatsApp and all the other major messaging applications).
To authorize WeChat to access the phone book on your smartphone, answer in the affirmative to the request that appears after the registration phase for the service, then go to the section Contacts of the app, select the items New friends e Cell phone contacts e pulsing sul pulsating Add placed next to the names of the friends you want to add to the WeChat address book.

You can also search for other WeChat registered users by clicking on the button + located on the tab Contacts application by selecting the item Add contacts from the menu that appears and typing their WeChat ID (so not your full name or email address) in the search field at the top of the screen. From the same screen, then, you can search among the official accounts of WeChat and become "followers" of companies that have decided to share their activities through WeChat public channels.
Alternatively, know that you can take advantage of the QR code associated with each user to quickly add their name to your contacts (you can find yours by going to the tab Io and pressing on the thumbnail of the QR code) and that you can find people who use WeChat nearby using the function Close people present in the card Discover.
If you don't want to be found via the function I just told you about, press the button menu at the top right (the icon with the three dots) and select the item Delete location from the box that appears. Also, if you want to prevent people from contacting you without first accepting them in your circle of friends, go to Me> Settings> Privacy and set on ON the option Confirm friendship.
How to use WeChat
After adding your friends to WeChat contacts you can start chatting with them simply by selecting them from the tab Contacts and pressing the button View messages present in the screen that opens. I don't think the rest needs excessive explanations. Using the text field located at the bottom of the screen, you can type the messages to be sent to the interlocutor (or interlocutors, in the case of group conversations), by pressing the smiley you can choose emoticons and stickers (ie funny images and animations) to add to the discussion while pressing on + you can access all the advanced functions of WeChat.
- Images allows you to send photos to interlocutors by selecting them from the phone gallery.
- Camera allows you to take photos and videos in real time and share them with friends.
- View (Sight) allows you to make short videos of up to ten seconds and share them in chat (you have to press and hold the camera icon that appears at the bottom to record).
- Location serves to share the geographical position.
- Info / Contact card allows you to share a contact.
- Add to Wishlist gives access to a gallery of favorite messages (you can add a message to your favorites by pressing and holding your finger on it and selecting the appropriate item from the menu that appears).
- Audio call - is used to initiate a free Internet call.
- Video call / Video call - is used to start a free online video call.
- Walkie Talkie - allows you to send and receive walkie talkie-style audio messages.
- Chat in diretta (Live Chat) allows you to transform a group chat into a group video chat in real time. For the moment this feature is only available on Android and iOS.
Also noteworthy is the presence of a button for sending audio messages, located at the bottom left of the chat screen. To send an audio message to your interlocutors, press on it, keep your finger pressed on the field Tenere to talk that appears below and speaks. To end the recording, release the button and your audio message will be instantly published in chat.
Don't forget to take a look at the function Moments WeChat, which allows you to create a sort of private social network through which you can share photos, videos and comments with your friends. To post new content on your Moments page, go to Discover> Moments and presses the icon of camera.
On the screen Discover WeChat is also there WeChat Out, a function that allows you to make international calls via VoIP at fairly low cost. New users are entitled to 1 euro of free credit, but then, to use the service, you have to buy top-ups ranging from 0,99 euro to 14,99 euro.
How to use WeChat from your computer
As mentioned at the beginning of the post, WeChat can also be accessed from a computer using a special web interface or the official client of the service for Windows and macOS.
To access WeChat via browser, connected to this web page using your favorite browser program, frame the QR code which is shown to you using the WeChat app on your mobile (just call up the function QR code scan from the menu located at the top right of the tab Chat) e pigia sul pulsating Log in.
Within a few seconds you should be able to use WeChat from your computer. But be careful, the service may be in Chinese. To overcome this problem you can install the official client of the service for Windows or macOS. How? Simple, by connecting to this web page and clicking on the button Windows to download the Windows version of the program or on the button Mac App Store to download the Mac version of the program (via Mac App Store).
When the download is complete, if you are using a Windows PC, open the WeChat installation package (WeChat_xx.exe) and first click on Yes and then Install WeChat e Run but I will complete the setup.
Now the procedure to follow is common on both Windows and Mac. Then start the WeChat client and log in to your account by scanning the QR code that appears on the screen. To scan the QR code use the appropriate WeChat function on your smartphone as seen above for the Web interface.
Once logged in, press the button Log in on your phone and start using WeChat on your computer. The interface of the application is practically identical to that of the smartphone application, so I don't think there is much to explain. Through the left sidebar you can choose whether to view the chats, contacts, shared files or app settings, while the chat commands are three: by clicking on the icon of the smiley you can send emoticons by clicking on folder you can share files with your interlocutors, while clicking on the icon of scissors you can take a screenshot and send it in chat.
In the software settings you can choose whether to display the notifications of WeChat on your PC, you can configure the keyboard shortcuts and you can choose if save the chat history or less. Have fun!
