Well, Total, also called Total Downloader o Total files, is an application that falls into the category of File Manager. In other words, through Total, you can view and manage all the files inside your smartphone, also accessing the various folders saved in the memory.
Yes, this is a popular app also due to its integration with cloud storage services, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and iCloud, as well as with the File app pre-installed on iPhone and iPad.
In addition to this, Total also includes a reader for PDF and many other types of files, including audio and video, integrated. However, the functionality of the application does not stop there: as already mentioned above, a integrated browser which presents the ability to download music and videos played in it.
In short, Total, born as a file manager application, has actually gradually transformed itself into a tool capable of performing many other operations. Having it installed on your smartphone and knowing how to use it can therefore be very useful and in the chapters you find below I will explain how to do it best.
How to use Total on Android
The Total app, formerly called Total Downloader, is heavily used on Android. If, therefore, you too have a device animated by the operating system of the green robot and you want to learn how to use it on the latter, below you will find all the relevant information.
How to download and install Total
As for the devices Android, Total is available for free through the Google Play Store. However, the application contains advertising that can be removed for a fee 2,99 € via in-app purchases.
To download and install the app on your smartphone, just open the Play Store, search "Total", To tap on 'icona dell'app (a sort of "fusion" between a 'T' and a down arrow) and press the button INSTALL. This will begin downloading Total and the app will be automatically installed on your device.
Put simply, all you need to do is use the usual method of installing applications on your Android smartphone. For more information, I recommend that you consult my guide on how to download Android applications.
How to use Total to download music
One of the areas where users use Total the most is that of music. In fact, the app is often used to retrieve one's songs from the cloud or download new ones via the built-in browser.
To download music via Total's integrated browser, you need to press the sull'icona icon and select the item Browser from the menu that opens. After that, take advantage of the address bar present at the top and reach the website from which you want to download music. Of course, you can also use Google, to search (if you need advice on sites to download free music, see my tutorial dedicated to the subject).
Once you've found the right song, tap the button to start the reproduction (es. ▶ ︎) where he download for free of the song. In this way, Total will detect the song and will notify you with a special box: just press on the item Download, to start downloading it on your smartphone or tablet.
Once the music has been downloaded, it will be made available through the card Local files / Local files, found in section Archive / Archive, reachable by pressing the icon ☰ on the main screen of Total.
To download music from the cloud, on the other hand, just press the ☰ icon of Total and select the item Archive / Archive from the menu that opens. At this point, move to the tab Cloud Accounts / Cloud Accounts present at the top and choose the service of cloud storage where you have saved your music (eg. Google Drive o dropbox).
In case you have not yet added a service of this type, click on the button + located at the bottom right, select the service where there are the music files and log in by entering email address e Password and pressing on the item Log in.
After that, go back to the tab Cloud Accounts / Cloud Accounts, tap on cloud service you just configured and select the folder where you saved the music. To download all the songs in the latter, press the button ⋮ and select the item Download. Perfect, now all the tracks will be downloaded to your device. Of course, you can do the same with individual songs: just press the icon ⋮ and tap on Download.
As with the files downloaded from the browser, those obtained via the cloud are also accessible from the card Local files / Local files in Total.
How to use Total to download videos
If you want to use Total for download videos, tap on the ☰ icon at the top left of the app and select the item Browser from the menu that opens, in order to open the browser integrated in the application.
Reach, therefore, the website which contains the video you want to download (via URL or through a Google search) and start the multimedia content you want to download by pressing the ▶ ︎ icon. At this point, the message will appear on the screen Do you want to download this content? / Download the file? and you will simply have to press ongreen down arrow icon, I'll give you confirmation.
Now, you just have to choose the name of the movie and press the button DOWNLOAD. You can also choose to save audio only by checking the box Save only the audio track of the video. Once the transfer is complete, you will find the videos by pressing the ☰ icon of Total and then on the voice Archive / Archive menu that opens.
Of course, you can also use the various services in cloud, through the procedure I explained in the chapter on how to use Total to download music.
How to manage files in Total
After explaining how to download music and videos via Total, I would say that you are ready to learn how to manage the files you have available on your device.
Well, by pressing the icon of a song or of an video, the file will be played directly in Total and you will have the option to put it in break, start the automatic playback etc. being able to take advantage of all the classic features made available by a audio / video player. Also interesting is the ability to broadcast the content on the supported TV via theshield icon present at the top right (more info here).
As for the other possibilities, you can access them simply by pressing the icon ⋮ present next to the file name. At this point, you can decide to add a song to the playlist, export the file, rename it, delete it, copy, post it in another folder, send it to a cloud account you linked to Total or share it on SOCIAL MEDIA. However, the functionality to export the file to other formats is reserved for users who have purchased the Pro version of Total.

How to use Total on iPhone
As mentioned above, Total is also available for iPhone e iPad, where it is called Total files and has several integrations with core iOS features, such as the app Fillet: here's how it works in detail.
How to download and install Total
Total is available on iPhone and iPad for free. Includes banner ads, which can be removed by purchasing its Pro version, a 5,49 €.
To download the free version of the app, just open the App Store, select the tab Search, bottom right, search "Total files" and press onicona dell'app (an orange 'T' on a blue background). After that, you have to press on the button Get and verify your identity through Face ID, touch ID o Password dell'ID Apple.

How to use Total to download music
If you want download music with Total for iPhone / iPad, start the application and tap onmappamondo icon present at the bottom right, in order to open the browser included in the application.
Now you must use the navigation bar, above, to reach the website where is music: if you don't know where to find songs to download, I recommend that you check out my guide to the best websites to download free music.
Once you have identified the song to download, all you have to do is press the button for reproduce (es. ▶ ︎) or download the song and press the button Download located in the box that appears on the screen. In some cases, the writing may appear on the screen Do you want to download this content? and you will simply have to press onicon check.
Then choose the percorso where to save the file, press the button end present at the top right and that's it. You can find the downloaded music by pressing onicon della cartella (Archive) and selecting the tab Local.
If, on the other hand, you want to download music from Cloud Storage supported by Total, press onicon della cartella (Archive) present at the bottom left and tap on the tab Cloud. From here you will access the section Remote archive, where you will notice that the integration with iCloud Drive. This means that if your music is in this service you already have everything configured.
If, on the other hand, the songs are in another cloud service, such as dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and similar, you have to press onservice icon involved and log in to your account by entering email address e Password and pressing on the item Log in.
Once the various accounts have been configured, press oncloud service icon where your music is present, locate i fillet to download and tap on their icon.
You just have to choose the position where the songs will be downloaded and press the button Download, to start the download. Again, you can find the downloaded music in the tab Local in Total.
How to use Total to download videos
The Total app is also used a lot for download videos. How do you say? Don't know how to do it? Don't worry, I'll explain it to you right away!
To do this, start Total, fai tap sull 'mappamondo icon present at the bottom right, go to the website that contains the video you want to download and start it by pressing the ▶ ︎ key. At this point, the message will appear on the screen Do you want to download this content? and you will simply have to press onicon check.
Now, you just have to choose the name of the movie, select the position in which to save it and press the key end, present at the top right. Once the download is complete, you will find the videos by pressing on theicon della cartella and selecting the voice Local or in the app Fillet of iOS.
In the latter case, you may need to activate theaccess to data of Total files via the path Browse> Locations. Of course, you can also use the various services in cloud through the procedure I explained in the chapter on how to use Total to download music.
How to manage files in Total
After teaching you how to download music and videos with the Total app, I'd say move on to managing them.
As mentioned above, Total has a integrated reader for various types of files, including audio and video. To open the multimedia contents, just press on them icon and the on-screen player will appear. From here you can scroll through the content, put it in break and perform all the classic operations allowed by a player of this type (sharing with the TV included).
To access the other features, however, just tap on the icon ⋮ present next to the file name and select one of the many options. From here you can then rename the file, copy, post it, compress it into ZIP, delete it, hide from the main screen and share it on SOCIAL MEDIA. There is also the possibility to upload the file to the in cloud and convert video files to audio (M4A, MP3).
