How to open EPS files on PC
As I have already explained to you in the opening bars of this guide, the EPS contain the so-called vector images, i.e. image files that can be subjected to profound structural changes while maintaining the initial quality and without loss of information (as happens, for example, by acting on compressed formats such as JPG o PNG). Below I am going to show you two of the best solutions to manage this type of file on a PC.
Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator (Windows/macOS)
As for the operating systems Windows e MacOS, EPS files can be managed through numerous programs belonging to the suite Adobe, among which Illustration e Photoshop; these software, however, are available upon purchase of a commercial license: for example, you can make a subscription for both software through Adobe Creative Cloud, with prices starting at € 24.39 / month.
If, however, you do not intend to pay a single euro and intend to take advantage of Photoshop for free, all you have to do is download the installation file and activate a free license lasting 7 days: to do so, connect to this Internet page and presses the button Activate your free trial version to start the download of the program setup file (eg. Photoshop_Set-Up.exe, these poisons are Windows).
Once you have finished copying the installation file on the disk, all you have to do is start it and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the installation, making sure to log in, when requested, with an Adobe ID account (you can configure one from here) or via Facebook or Google account. Once the program setup is complete, you just have to double-click on the EPS file in your possession to view it. InkScape (Windows / macOS / Linux)
The previous solution has not fully convinced you, since you need a completely free program to be used in the future or, again, why do you rely on the Linux operating system? Then the best solution is without a doubt the program Inkscape: also in this case, it is an advanced graphic editing program, able to open (and, if desired, modify) the EPS files in an absolutely simple way. Inkscape is available for free for all three major desktop platforms: Windows, MacOS e Linux.
If you intend to adopt this solution, do the following: regarding Windows, connected to the download page of the program, presses the button Download, by pressing the button Windows, then click on the button related to the architecture of your operating system (32 o 64 bit) and finally on the button Installer in .exe format. Wait, therefore, for the download of the file (eg. inkscape-0.92.3-x64.exe) is completed, start the program you just downloaded, click twice on the button Next, by pressing the button Typical and finally on the button install to complete the procedure. You can start Inkscape by calling it from the appropriate folder located in the menu Home Windows, accessible by clicking on the flag icon located in the lower left corner of the screen.
Stai using MacOS, you need to download and install the add-on XQuartz before proceeding with the Inskape setup: first, therefore, connected to the XQuartz Internet page, click on the item link XQuartz-2.7.11.dmg and wait for the file of the same name to be downloaded to your computer, then open it and click on the file XQuartz.pkg contained within it. Once this is done, press the button three times Continue, then on the buttons Accept e Install, enter the administrator password, click on the button Install software, wait for the process to be finalized and press the button OK. To finalize the process, all you need to do is restart your Mac.
Now that XQuartz is ready, you can proceed with the installation of Inkscape: connected to the download page dedicated to macOS, press the link .dmg present immediately under the heading Inkscape 0.91, wait for the file (eg. inkscape-0.91.dmg) is completely downloaded, then open it and drag the program icon to the folder Applications of the Mac, using the small window that opens on the screen. To start Inkscape, access the aforementioned folder, right click on the program icon, press the item Apri from the proposed context menu and then on the button apri from the next warning window (you only have to do it this time). At the first access, Inkscape may ask for the installation path of X11 (XQuartz): using the panel open on the screen, select the path Applications> Utilities> XQuartz, confirm your choice by pressing the button Choose / Choose and wait for the software to start.
For Linux, on the other hand, the installation procedure is extremely simple, since the program is included in most of the main repositories of the most used distributions: if you use Ubuntu, for example, you can install the program by opening a terminal and typing the command sudo apt install inkscape followed by Submit, to then enter the administrator password when requested and press the button again Submit. Once setup is complete, you can start Inkscape from the Activity view or from main menu of your distribution.
At this point, the game is practically done: to open the EPS file in your possession, all you have to do is select the menu File> Open from the main screen of Inkscape and, with the help of the proposed panel, navigate to the file of your interest. Alternatively, you can open the file in question with a simple double click (in this case, Inkscape starts automatically).

Docs Viewer (Android)
The first app I want to suggest, platform specific Android, responds to the name of Docs Viewer: in fact, it is a viewer for documents of various kinds, with support for EPS files. The only limitation of this app, available for free on Google Play, is the inability to edit EPS files: in fact, it is only and exclusively able to open and view them.
Docs Viewer is extremely simple to use: once downloaded and installed on Android, all you have to do is start the app from the drawer of your device (i.e. the area where the icons of all the installed apps reside) and, helping you with the side panel shown immediately on the screen, select the EPS file resident on the device. In this case, you can choose whether to open the file from a collection (Images, Documents, and so on), from Google Drive, From internal memory of the device or, possibly, from microSD: once you have selected the most suitable path for your case, all you have to do is choose the file of interest with a tap, to see it on the screen after a few moments. Easy, right?
Adobe Creative Cloud (Android / iOS)
If you have a iPhone or iPad, or need to open the EPS file for editing, you can refer to the app Adobe Creative Cloud, available for both Android and iOS.
Although it is a free software, whose only basic requirement is access via Adobe ID or social account, it allows you to open EPS files saved through Illustrator or Photoshop programs for computers, within the homonymous cloud service: in other words, you can take advantage of Adobe Creative Cloud by synchronizing EPS with Photoshop / Illustrator for PC, by subscribing to a subscription plan, with prices starting from 12.19 € / month.
Convert EPS files online
If you have read this far, it means that you are familiar with the solutions for open EPS files that I proposed in the previous sections but, unfortunately, none of them are for you, since you are looking for something that allows you to easily view EPS files without downloading additional software, perhaps converting them to a more common format (eg. JPG , PNG or PDF) to open them with software or apps you already have.

Perfect, I think I have a couple of solutions that are right for you: in this section, in fact, I will show you how to use two of the most famous Internet sites that allow you to convert EPS files into other more "common" formats using only the browser of the PC or your mobile device, with the possibility to download the converted files immediately and free of charge and use them as you please.
Online converter
The first portal I want to suggest is called Online converter and it is very simple to use: first, connect to the website of the service, then select the type of conversion (eg. EPF to JPG) from the drop-down menu Convert and make sure that in the drop-down menu source the item is selected Upload File.

If the previous online converter didn't satisfy you, you can give it a chance Convertio, which you can access from this website: basically, this portal allows you to convert EPS files into native Adobe Illustrator (AI) files, however you can change this setting by using the drop-down menus DA e IN and using the practical menus shown on the screen.
Once you have chosen the type of conversion most congenial to you (eg. da EPS in PNG), presses the small icon in the shape of computer located in the red bar and select the EPS file you want to convert. If you need it, you can upload multiple files at the same time by pressing the button Add more files attached to the next screen. At this point, to complete the conversion, all you have to do is click on the button Converted: at the end of the procedure, click on the button Download corresponding to the document (or documents) uploaded to proceed with the download of the converted file.
