Want to change the email address associated with your PlayStation 4 but don't know how? Don't worry - it's very easy to do and takes no more than a few minutes. All you need to do is follow the instructions in this guide on how to change your PS4 email address.
As a result, you'll be able to access your PlayStation account on various devices using your new email address instead of your old one and return to playing all your favourite games as if there hadn't been any change. In case you're wondering, the content of your profile will remain intact: you'll keep all the data (e.g. purchases and saves of games you've played over time, settings) linked to it: it will only change the login ID you need to type to access the PlayStation Network.
What do you say then? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and do this? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and do this? Yes, I am. Below you'll find brief procedures to follow on PS4, computers, smartphones and tablets. Choose the procedure that suits you best and put it into practice. I have nothing else to do but wish you a good read and have fun!
Change email on PS4 account
PlayStation 4 uses the PlayStation Network service for online gaming. To change emails on your PS4 account, you will need to act on the PSN account associated with it. As with most online services, your PlayStation Network account settings related to your personal information, such as your email address, can be changed through a wide range of devices. Below is an explanation of how to proceed directly from PS4.
Retrieve PS4 email
I beg your pardon? Forgot the email address you used to sign up for PlayStation Network? You'll be happy to know you're in the right place at the right time. I'm going to tell you how to find the address you used when you signed up for the service.
My first tip is to check the Inbox of all your email addresses: Playstation has probably sent you messages in the past and the address where they reside is the one associated with PlayStation Network, unless you have multiple accounts.
If you still haven't been able to retrieve the address, make an attempt to log in with every email available to you: this can often solve the problem. Still can't figure out which email you used? Don't worry, Sony has a service that aims to solve just such problems. Just follow the procedure described in the tutorial chapter on how to contact the Sony support centre and explain the problem to the right person.
How to edit PS4 email
Once you have found the email associated with your PlayStation Network account, you can proceed to change the address. Sony is always very attentive to the user experience offered by its consoles, so you can manage your profile directly from PlayStation 4 and through a simple procedure. So take five minutes off and follow the instructions I'm about to give you.
First, go to the top toolbar and press the X button on the controller above the Settings icon. Then select Account Management and then Account Information. Now press the X button on the controller above the Login ID (email address) and enter the new email you want to use on the screen that appears. Next, select Confirm and you will receive an email containing a link to confirm the change of address.
PlayStation 4 will notify you with the following message: "If you change your login ID (email address), you will automatically log out of PlayStation Network and need to check your email address to reaccess. This means that once you have changed your email address, you will need to log in again on all devices associated with your PSN account.
Change PS4 email from PC
Of course, you can also change the email associated with your PlayStation Network account via a common computer browser. The procedure to follow is very simple.
Simply log in to the official PlayStation website and click on the Sign In button in the top right hand corner. Then enter the email address and password for your PSN account and click the blue Sign In button.
Next, you have to click on the My Playstation button at the top right and select the Profile option on the screen that appears. Now scroll down the page, click on Privacy Settings, select the Security option from the bar on the left and then click on the Edit button to the right of the access ID.
To finish, delete the old address and enter the new one in the space provided and click Save. You may be asked for confirmations or various codes, depending on your account security settings.
Changing your email address also changes the login ID for your PSN account, so you'll need to log in again on your PlayStation 4 and other associated devices. For more information, please read my tutorial on how to access PlayStation Network.
Changing PS4 email from smartphones and tablets
Sony also launched the PlayStation App some time ago, the official Android and iOS app that allows you to manage the entire PlayStation ecosystem from your smartphone and tablet. It also allows you to change the privacy information of your account, where you can also change PS4 email. The procedure to follow is very simple and all you have to do is take five minutes off to complete it.
Once you've started PlayStation App, tap on the Account icon (the last one on the bottom right) and scroll up from the bottom of the screen. Now tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner and select Privacy Settings from the drop-down menu that appears. The application may ask you to re-enter your account password. If so, enter it and tap Continue.
Then tap on the three horizontal lines icon at the top left, select the Security item from the screen that opens, tap on the Edit button to the right of the login ID and, finally, enter the new address on the page that appears and tap on the blue Save button.
Sony may send you a confirmation email, ask you again for your password or some other type of code, depending on your account security settings.
I remind you that when you changed your email address, you also changed the login ID of your PSN account. You then need to log back into your PlayStation 4 and other associated devices. For more information, please refer to my guide on how to play PS4 online.
Contact the Sony Support Centre
If you were unable to change the email address associated with your PSN account, there may be problems that can only be solved with the help of Sony. You don't have to worry though - we're talking about a company that has a support centre that can be accessed directly online, which includes many useful tips and allows you to contact operators.
All you have to do is go to the official Sony support website and write a brief description of the problem you've encountered in the search bar in the middle of the page. The portal will explain what you can do.
In case you can no longer find your login ID, write "I lost email" and scroll down the page that will open. Usually, Sony recommends that you have a photo ID and click on the blue Call Us sign at the bottom of the page.
At this point, you will be notified of the number to call and the times when the service is available. Then make the call and explain the problem to the operator. I can assure you that the Sony support team will do everything they can to try and resolve the problem.
