Hogwarts Legacy originally launched on PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC last month, but it looks like PS4 and Xbox One players will have to wait a bit longer. Warner Bros Games has announced that next-gen versions of the game have been delayed from its initial release date of April 4. It will now release a month later on May 5, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version is still expected to arrive in July.
Warner Bros Games and developer Avalanche Software recently released a statement thanking players for Hogwarts Legacy, a huge success on current generation platforms and PC. Unfortunately, the team needs a bit more time to perfect the PS4 and Xbox One versions, so the game will release on May 5, as opposed to the initially promised April release.

The Warner Bros Games statement reads:
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the world. The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience across all platforms and we need more time to do that. Hogwarts Legacy launches for PS4 and Xbox One on May 5, 2023.
Nintendo Switch players will still be able to get the game on July 25, 2023, as that date hasn't moved.
This is a smart move on the publisher's part, as AAA's last game Knights of Gotham didn't release on the latest generation consoles, possibly due to technical issues. The superhero game has been criticized for some of its performance issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, so we can't imagine what state the PS4 and Xbox One versions would have been in.
Despite releasing exclusively on current-gen platforms and PC, Hogwarts Legacy still managed to rack up massive sales numbers, selling over 12 million copies in just two weeks. This also made it the fastest-selling game in the publisher's history, and sales continued to rise.
Hogwarts Legacy is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The PS4 and Xbox One versions will now launch on May 5, 2023 with Nintendo Switch scheduled for July 25, 2023.
