How to open JSON files on Windows
As for opening JSON files on Windows, my advice is to rely on the software Notepad + +: if you had never heard of it, this is an excellent free alternative to Windows Notepad, able to recognize "on the fly" most of the programming / scripting languages present on the square and to automatically apply indentation and colors identifiers to the source code contained therein, without however altering the source file in any way.
To get it, connected to the main page of the program, click on the item Download located on the side and, to immediately download the setup file, click on the button Download (l'icona a forma di box) on the next page.
Once you have obtained the installation file (in .exe), start it, click on the button Yesselect l 'cityno from the drop-down menu proposed and press the button OK; afterward, click the buttons Come on, I agree, on (twice in a row), Install and, to conclude and start the program immediately, end.
After a few moments, Notepad ++ should open automatically (if it doesn't, call it up from the menu Home Windows): when this happens, go to the menu File> Open…, or click on the icon in the shape of gialla poster located at the top left. Then, using the File Explorer / Windows Explorer panel displayed on the screen, choose the file JSON of your interest, click on the button apri And that's it!
After a few moments, the source code of the file of your choice will be displayed, correctly formatted, indented and split into objects, keys e values (depending on the constructs used within it). If needed, you can edit the file as you see fit, and then save it through the menu File> Save (top left) or by clicking on the icon in the shape of floppy disk placed at the top.
How to open JSON files on macOS
In my humble opinion, one of the best free programs for open JSON files su MacOS è Atom, a viewer very similar to Notepad ++, with support for a large number of programming and scripting languages (JSON included).
To get it, connect to its official website and press the button Download placed in the center of the page; once you get the package .dmg, copy it to the Applications folder Mac (just drag the icon directly from the Download area of the Dock bar), launch it and press the button apri to authorize its execution.
At this point, move the mouse to the top of the Atom window to display the menu bar, click on the menu File > Open… and, using the Finder panel shown on the screen, select the JSON file you want to view. After a few moments, you should see the source code of the file in question, formatted and indented according to the objects, keys and values it contains.
Note: Since Atom also has project upload capabilities on the Github platform, you may be asked to install Apple Developer Tools. If you don't need it, please decline the installation of this add-on.
How to open JSON files on Android
For Android, there are several apps that allow you to open JSON files with the most appropriate formatting for the source code contained in the latter. Among these, I advise you to rely on JSON Viewer: this application, available for free on the Play Store, allows you to view the contents of a JSON file in a couple of taps, dividing it according to the objects present in it (but without altering them in any way the structure).
After downloading the application, start it by recalling it from the drawer of your device (the screen with the list of all the apps installed on the device) and press the button in the shape of a folder, in order to open a file saved in the device (to access the available folders, do one swipe from left to center), or on the one in the shape of world, to open a JSON file available on the Web.
Alternatively, you can open a JSON file from the app through which you obtained it (e.g. email) and choose to view it through JSON Viewer using the special panel proposed by Android.
Once the file is opened, the list of objects (with related subfields and values) specified in the code will be displayed; by carrying out a prolonged tap on the various items, you can access additional options: view theobject in text format, view or copy objects, keys e values or copy whole key-value pairs.
How to open JSON files on iOS
Also with regard to the operating system iOS, therefore iPhone e iPad, there is no shortage of JSON viewers. Personally, I suggest you give Jayson an opportunity, a JSON file reader available for free on the App Store, which allows you to open JSON files by dividing them according to the objects present in them, thus providing a clear and tidy view of the content of the source code.
After downloading the app, start it by touching the icon that is added to the device's Home screen, then press the button Shop by Department (Quello forma di folder, located at the bottom right) and then on the item Select, to access the folders available on the device in use.
Alternatively, you can open the preview of the file by pressing on its icon within the app through which you obtained it (for example Mail), then press on theshare icon (The square with up arrow) and will select the voice Copy his Jayson give the purpose menu.
After a few moments, you should see the objects, the give and values that make up the open file: by tapping on an object, you can access the keys (and possibly the values) contained in it; by carrying out a prolonged tap on a key or on a value, you have the option to copy its contents to the system clipboard. Also, by pressing the icon [TXT], you can view the text content of the previously opened JSON file. Easy, right?
