What is the secret Telegram chat and what is it for
Before explaining to you how the secret Telegram chat works, let me give you some preliminary information about it. In fact, you must know that the secret chats of Telegram they are nothing more than safer chats, as they are characterized by end-to-end encryption, which prevents other people - and the Telegram managers themselves - from intercepting the messages contained in them.
In addition, messages sent and received in secret chats cannot be forwarded and, when deleted, they are automatically deleted from both the sender's and the recipient's chat.
You can also set a self-destruct timer for messages and multimedia items sent in secret chats Telegram and also, on Android it is not possible to screenshot the content of secret chats. Users iOS / iPadOS, instead they can take a picture of the screen, but this is immediately notified to the recipient.
Having said that, you must finally know that the secret chats of Telegram can only be used through its official app for Android and iOS / iPadOS and macOS: it is not possible to create or view a secret chat via the Web version of Telegram or using its official client for Windows, although in the latter case it is possible turn to third-party applications.
How Telegram secret chats work
Now that you have clarified what are the fundamental characteristics of the chats of Telegram would you like to know more about how they work? In that case, continue reading the next paragraphs of my tutorial, for more information about it.
Your Android
A smartphone or tablet is available Android and want to start a secret chat on Telegram, you must first start the instant messaging app by pressing its airplane icon located on the home screen and / or in the drawer of your device.
Once this is done, through the main screen of the app, identify the person with whom you are interested in starting a secret chat, presses on his nominative, to first open the traditional chat screen.
Now, press on name of the user at the top, then presses the icon (...) located in the upper right corner. Finally, in the menu that is shown to you, tap on the item Start secret chat and confirm the operation by pressing the button starts.
At this point, first set the message self-destruct timer by pressing the icon (...) located at the top right and tapping on the item self-destruct timer: the range is from according 1 to 1 weeks. Finally, confirm the operation by pressing the button Done.
As for the tools related to instant messaging, the operation of secret chats is identical to that of traditional chats: it is, in fact, possible to send text messages via the text field Message.
To send voice messages or video messages, instead presses onmicrophone icon. Finally, to share multimedia attachments, tap onpaperclip icon.
Furthermore, on Android, you can delete all messages sent and received in the secret chat in one go: to do so, press the icon (...) located in the upper right corner and, in the menu that is shown to you, tap on the item Cancel the timeline. Confirm the operation by pressing the button of the same name.
Another feature of Telegram secret chats on Android is the presence of the incognito keyboard: everything you type in the secret chat will not be stored by the Android keyboard.
Finally, I remind you that the Android operating system does not allow you to take a screenshot of the screen in secret chats: trying to carry out the operation in question you will be shown a system notification that will warn you of the impossibility of taking a photo of the screen.
Your iOS / iPadOS
To use the secret chat of Telegram su iOS o iPadOS, you must first start the official application of the well-known instant messaging service that you have downloaded on your device.
So he presses on his own airplane icon located on the home screen of your iPhone or iPad, then locate, through the screen called chat (thetwo overlapping speech bubbles icon), the person you want to start chatting with in a secret chat.
Then tap his nominative, to open the dedicated conversation, then tap his name located at the top and, in the menu that is shown to you, press the icon (...). Infine, premium pulsating Start secret chat, to open the latter.
Alternatively, to start a new secret chat you can also press directly onpencil and sheet icon which is located in the upper right corner of the screen Chat. In this specific case, click on the button afterwards Nuova Segreta Chat and choose the person with whom you want to start the secret conversation, through the list of names that is shown to you.
The most important feature related to secret chat is the one that concerns the ability to set a self-destruct timer. To do this, press onstopwatch icon located in the bottom menu of the chat, then set the timer, choosing a period of time between according 1 e 1 weeks. Finally, confirm the operation by pressing the button Done.
As for the interaction tools, the functionalities of the secret chat are the same as those of the traditional chat: via the text field Message you can send a text message by pressing onmicrophone icon you can send a voice message or a video message, while tapping on thepaperclip icon you can share multimedia elements within the secret chat.
Also, I remind you that, though iOS/iPadOS allow you to take a screenshot of the screen inside the secret chat of Telegram, this operation is immediately notified to the recipient who, in the chat, will see a message appear.

Your pc
Telegram can also be used from computer, via client for Windows, macOS and Linux. However, as already mentioned before, only the macOS version natively supports secret chats: the one for Windows does not support them, as well as the Web version.
However, on Windows, you can turn to third-party clients, such as Unigram, to solve the problem. Personally, I don't highly recommend the use of unofficial clients, but if you really need secret desktop chats, you should know that you can turn to these solutions.
That said, to take advantage of the secret chats from Mac, start the official Telegram client, click onsheet and pencil icon, at the top, in the chat list, click on the item New secret Chatselect il user's name with which to start the secret chat and confirm.
On Unigram, on the other hand, you just need to press the ☰ button and select the item to create one secret chat from the menu that opens. For the rest, the operation is the same as what I showed you in the previous sections of the tutorial.
How the secret Telegram chat works
